Michelle McMahon

The Big Ten Network/NBC Sports Chicago

Hailing from West Michigan, Michelle “Meesh” McMahon is a freelance sports broadcaster, located in the Chicago area. You'll recognize her from both her work on The Big Ten Network and with NBC Sports Chicago.  We’re delighted to welcome her to our ballroom; it seems like she and our ballroom were meant to be, since her favorite show is ABC’s Dancing With the Stars and she’s often the last one standing on the dance floor at weddings.

After embarking on the once in a lifetime journey to play Division One volleyball, Michelle embraced both athletics and academics at the University of Michigan where she pursued a degree in Communications and a minor in Spanish at Michigan, She was also a four-year member of the women’s varsity volleyball team.

Michelle began her sports broadcasting career in Chicago as a volleyball analyst for Big Ten Network. After a year in NYC, Michelle found her way back home to the Midwest in Chicago. She is currently a studio show host, sideline reporter for all of college sports on Big Ten Network, and serves as their lone female reporter for the network's pregame college football show on Saturdays, called BTN Tailgate. Additionally, Michelle is a studio show host and the sideline reporter for the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks on NBC Sports Chicago.

Michelle has been personally affected by cancer within her family, and she was drawn to dance this year because she wants to make a
difference in the fight against such a terrible disease. Michelle says, “It's important for me to use the sports media platform I've been graced with for the greater good, and to support those who are fighting daily battles against cancer, beyond what is even fathomable.”
She’s delighted to merge two of her passions: dancing and helping others in the fight against cancer.
