Meghan Dwyer - WGN

We are so delighted that Meghan Dwyer will be representing our fabulous friends at WGN this year.  She's an Emmy-Award-winning reporter who joined Chicago’s Very Own WGN news team in March 2017.

Prior to joining WGN, Meghan was an investigative reporter at WITI in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and prior to that was at CBS affiliate WIFR in Rockford, IL, where she was a crime and legal reporter. In 2013, she won the Illinois Broadcasters Association Silver Dome Award for Best TV News Reporter. Her work has also been recognized by the Illinois Associated Press, the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, and the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association.

And if she didn't already have quite a collection of accolades, she's also won 7 regional Emmys for her investigative reporting, and has been nominated for 16 others. She was also an IRE Award Finalist in 2015 for her series Speaking up for Special Needs.

Meghan earned her Master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, and her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University-Bloomington. She also has a law degree from Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law, where she was an associate on the Federal Communications Law Journal. Meghan was a corporate litigator in Chicago before changing careers in 2011.

She serves on the Board of Directors for Rainbows for All Children. She lives in the Edgebrook neighborhood of Chicago with her husband.
When it comes to dancing, Meghan says, "my husband is the dancer in our family. He says I only 'think' I’m a good dancer after a few cocktails at weddings. Dancing With Chicago Celebrities will be the moment of truth!"  We can't wait for her husband - and Chicago - to see her moves on March 16th.  Meghan is dancing from the heart this time - she lost her mom when she was 25 and although it was not from cancer, she knows a lot about grief and loss. "And I know we never stop needing our moms. So I’m dancing for all the moms who are fighting, and for all the children who are grieving or worried."
