Linda Bonelli - Tax Partner, Deloitte Tax LLC

The amazing team at Deloitte have always made us a priority and we are delighted to once again welcome one of their leaders to our ballroom family.  Linda is a Partner in Deloitte Tax’s National Multistate practice. She has more than 20 years of experience specializing in prospective state tax benefits, with a focus on restructuring and credits & incentives.

Linda is the leader of Deloitte’s Incentives Practice and works with teams across the country and globally to deliver the right team for each project. Her services and strategies have guided over 100 major corporations with the deployment of people, facility assets, and equipment around the world.

Despite this busy set of professional responsibilities, Linda is taking to our ballroom to continue to tradition of dancing tax partners from Deloitte...and this year, it's very personal.  "Dancing is not really my skill set," she says, "but I am willing to learn and do whatever I can to raise awareness and support the fight against breast cancer."

When Linda shared her story, we understood deep in our hearts the depth of her commitment to this effort. And she is allowing us to share her story with all of you.

Linda's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in the late 1980’s. She went through surgery and about a year and a half of treatments. At the time, one of the benchmarks of being "cured" was to reach the five-year mark of remission. As she got closer to the milestone, she went in for her regular 6 month check-up, in her fourth year, and she received the terrible news that breast cancer was back and that it had spread to other parts of her body. For the next three years her mom fought cancer the best she could until she lost the battle to this terrible disease.

As one of six girls, Linda learned about the dangers of breast cancer and the importance of research focused on curing it and improving the treatments for this disease. And that is exactly the kind of research we fund.   Linda says, "in a strange way, our experience with my mom's brave battle had a bit of a silver lining, since it helped educate us and led to the early diagnosis of the disease for two of my sisters." This year, Linda dances in memory of her mom and to honor her sisters, one of whom is a 20-year survivor and one who is approaching the two-year mark as a survivor.  "I am hoping to contribute whatever I can to fund the education, research and ultimate cure for this disease and hope to inspire others to do the same."

Linda's story is a powerful reminder of why we all do what we do and we hope you will come cheer her on in person as she dances on March 16th. You can buy tickets here or you can donate to Linda and her amazing effort by clicking here.
